Turn your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 a.m.
While it is welcomed by some and frowned upon by others we all deal with it. To me, it marks the hopes of spring and then when we go back to Standard Time on November 7 this year and we know that winter will soon be here. Some parents complain that it really messes around with the kiddos sleep patterns but before long they adjust and it just seems like any other day. You may get to sleep the extra hour in the morning but know that they may be up that extra hour in the evening. Have faith it will all work out.
When Did Daylight Savings Time Begin?
Daylight Savings Time originated during the World War 1 on March 19, 1918, by the Federal Government as a way to conserve coal. While it was terminated sometime later that year it has continued for decades on the state level for years when in 1966 Uniform Time Act was enacted and it was recognized nationally. This year marks 100 years of the start of Daylight Savings Time.
Who is in Charge of Daylight Savings Time? Can you believe that the Department of Transportation (DOT) is in charge of daylight saving time and all time zones in the U.S.? According to the DOT's website that these time standards are important for all forms of transportation. Daylight savings time has proven to save energy, reduce crime, and save lives by preventing traffic accidents.
