☀️ Summer Journal Prompts for Kids

Summer is officially here and what a great time for your kids to brush up on their creative writing skills. Here are some journal prompts to get the kids started. 



1. Where is your happy place? Describe that place.

2. What is the best gift you have ever given someone else? Why was it the best gift?

3. In your spare time what do you like to do? Make a list.

4. If you could go anywhere on vacation where would you go and why?

5. What 4 words describe you and why?

6. Make a list of the events and activities you would like to do this summer.

7. How do you prepare for a big game? Why?

8. Who is your best friend? What makes someone a good friend.

9. Pretend you are a dog or cat. What kind of dog or cat would you be? What would your name be? Who would you want your owner to be?

10. Look out your window. What do you see? Draw a picture too.

11. Somewhere over the rainbow . . .

12. Describe what your bedroom looks like. Do you keep it clean or messy?

13. Name things you could do on a rainy day.

14. Tell me about your family. What is unique about your family?

15. Make a list of things you love about yourself. 

16. Write a story using all your family members as characters in your story.

17. What holiday do you enjoy the most and why?

18. Sunshine makes me  . . .

19. Summer is such a wonderful time of year. What do you enjoy most about the summer?

20. Design and draw a couple outfits you would like to wear.

21. If you could play any professional sport what would it be and what team would you like to play on?

22. What do you want to have as a profession when you grow up?

23. Make a list of what you need to take to the beach. Draw a picture of your beach bag.

24. Imagine you are on a deserted island. If you could have one person and 5 items with you what would they be?

25. Write a letter to your grandparents or a friend and mail it to them.
