HOPKINS, Minn.- Stages Theatre Company (STC) is excited to open the world premierebilingual musical, Señorita Mariposa. Take flight and discover just how big Señorita Mariposa’s mundo maravilloso is as we follow the monarch butterfly’s journey from Canada to Mexico on this beautiful English and Spanish adventure across the continent. Each year the butterfly takes an epic adventure ‘over mountains capped with snow, to the deserts down below’ to settle in the forests of their ancestors, but it’s the friends they meet on their way that make this journey so special. Señorita Mariposa is the first production in Stages Theatre Company’s “ Mystical Season of Adventure”.
The author and composer, Ben Gundersheimer (MISTER G) will attend the Sunday, September 29th 1PM performance to sign copies of the book.
Señorita Mariposa, directed by Nora Montañez Patterson, will be presented in the Jaycees Studio Theatre at the Hopkins Center for the Arts in downtown Hopkins. This world premiere bilingual play with lots of music is best suited for audience members of all ages and both English and Spanish speakers and is presented during Hispanic Heritage Month.
“Señorita Mariposa is about embracing change, and having the courage to continue on even you’re scared. I’m excited to be a part of a world premiere bilingual show that not only celebrates Hispanic culture, but also brings awareness to important topics in a way that kids can understand. I think audiences are going to love to experience the vibrant music and scenery, and to feel a part of the show!” -Maya Haugen (Mariposa)
