Spring Into the Season at the Minnesota Zoo, Apple Valley

Spring has arrived at the Minnesota Zoo, bringing with it an incredible lineup of seasonal celebrations, interactive experiences, and new animal arrivals. With more than 4,500 animals to see, including the chick above born on April 1, visitors can enjoy a fresh experience with every visit this spring. Visit mnzoo.org for details.


 25th Anniversary of Farm Babies – April 26 through May 18

Spring at the Zoo wouldn’t be complete without Farm Babies, returning April 26 – May 18. For more than 25 years, the Wells Fargo Family Farm has welcomed hundreds of babies, including piglets, goat kids, lambs, calves, chicks, and ducklings. Each year, the beloved tradition gives families the chance to experience the wonder and joy of seeing dozens of these adorable baby animals take their first steps into the world.

 Explore Pollinator Park’s conservation efforts with special activities on weekends. Enjoy story walks, hands-on stations, photo ops, and lawn games. The Hayloft offers crafts and quiet activities, while live demos like wool weaving and metalsmithing showcase farm life. Live music on the weekends will feature bands like the School of Rock House Band and JV Squad.

 Special activities will include:

  • Daily Goat and Sheep keeper chats at 11:30 a.m.
  • Daily Pig and Chicken Feeding at 2:30 p.m.
  • Daily photo ops with Clydesdale horses,10 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 2 p.m.
  • For the grown-ups: Zoo After Hours on Saturday, April 26 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Those 21+ are welcome to enjoy Farm Babies in a relaxed, adult-only setting.




Bears and Brews – Saturday, May 17 from 6 – 9:30 p.m.

 Hibernation is OVER! Shake off winter and welcome spring with Bears and Brews, a 21+ evening. Make it a date night or invite a whole herd of friends for cold drinks, dining, dancing, music, and animal activities.

 Guests will enjoy:

  • Samples from 20+ breweries and distilleries
  • Delicious food available for purchase
  • Live music and entertainment
  • After-hours access to animal trails, including Treetop Trail and Farm Babies
  • A chance to ride the historic Conservation Carousel.

 Bears & Brews tickets are limited notoriously sell out so get yours today: $40 for members and $5 for non-members.





New Faces at the Minnesota Zoo

 This spring, visitors can meet several of the Zoo’s new animal residents.

  • Two orphaned puma cubs, Blizzard and Snow - Minnesota Trail
  • Taiga, a rescued red fox - Minnesota Trail.
  • Cedar, a North American river otter - Minnesota Trail.
  • Gray-headed swamphen and green-naped pheasant - Tropics Trail.

 New and Existing Experiences

  •  Royal Credit Union Sea Lion Discovery, visitors will enjoy an up-close look at California sea lions and their incredible abilities. Featuring music, interactive moments, and expert Marine Mammal Trainers, this engaging show highlights the natural behaviors and adaptations of these intelligent marine mammals.
  • Travel to the tropics with the Minnesota Zoo’s Tropics Trail. It’s blooming with orchids and an abundance of new greenery as spring weather takes hold. You might even see the Zoo’s new golden poison frog in its mossy habitat along the trail.
  • Come get a fresh perspective of the Zoo with a stroll along the Treetop Trail. The 1.25-mile walking path brings guests up to 32 feet above the ground and provides an accessible journey into nature for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The Treetop Trail is open daily by 12 p.m., weather permitting.
