Family Day: Past, Present, Future
Heritage is what we inherit from past generations, including objects, activities, traditions, and more. This Family Day, explore past, present, and future while celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month. Enjoy hands-on artmaking and storytelling that honor the countless contributions made by AAPI and Jewish American individuals in the United States.
What would the costumes in a play about your own life and heritage look like? Join Theater Mu, borne out of a need for greater Asian American representation in American theater, for scrapbook costume design. Get inspired by the work of Marc Chagall, who used art to explore his Jewish heritage and traditions. Watch demonstrations of traditional Tibetan butter sculpture and follow along in clay. Join local author Thuba Nguyen for a reading of her book, “My Daddy Tells Me.” And explore Mia’s huge collection of art from cultures around the world as you go on a gallery hunt.
