Memorial Day historically has been a good weekend to get friends and family together for a picnic or barbeque to celebrate service people that have continually protected our country. Please find time to honor service people this weekend and always. It is because of their efforts that we can feel confident that we will be protected. If any service people are reading this I want you to know that I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your bravery for your unselfish dedication to keeping America safe. I am forever grateful.

Memorial Day Event at Central Park in Rosemount

About: Join local elected officials and representatives from the Rosemount Legion and Rosemount VFW in honoring the fallen soldiers of Rosemount in a special ceremony. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on.
Decoration Day at Historic Fort Snelling
Where: Historic Fort Snelling, 200 Tower Ave Saint Paul, MN 55111

Come out to spend Memorial Day at Historic Fort Snelling and experience how Minnesota celebrated “Decoration Day” in the 1940s during WWII. Decoration Day became commonly known as Memorial Day after WWII.
The site will host programming across the entire twenty three acres from the new prairie landscape to inside the Plank Museum and Visitor Center, and of course within the historic reconstructed Fort.
Hear the Brooklyn Big Band perform on the Klas Overlook, witness WWII era military demonstrations and ceremonies inside the historic fort, marvel at a historic plane flyover, and learn about how Fort Snelling figures prominently in Minnesota and American history.
The flyover time is estimated between 10-11 am.

Memorial Day Celebration at Lakewood
Where: Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55408

What: Join us on this special day of commemoration to honor and remember those who are loved and missed at our annual ceremony in person at the Soldier’s Memorial, followed by a special celebration with activities and refreshments for the whole family. This event is free and all are welcome.

Join us for the Memorial Day Service of Remembrance at the Veterans Memorial of Roselawn Cemetery.
Follow the direction of the of our gate attendants to guide you to the site of the service.
Remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket as seating will not be provided.
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Roselawn Chapel. 3rd Annual $5 Picnic Lunch that includes a hot dog, chips, cookie, soda or water 11am-2pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Weekend.
The service will also be livestreamed via Facebook.
